Hair Color & Balayage
Birmingham · Royal Oak · Troy · Clinton Township
Color is the most requested service in our salons, and it's where our colorists spend the most time training. Every color appointment opens with a consultation at the chair, where we look at your natural level, previous color history, and the undertones we're working with before mixing a single formula. Balayage and foilyage are hand-painted freehand, so the lightener sits exactly where it should to grow out softly instead of leaving a hard demarcation line at the root. For guests who want a fuller transformation, we combine lightening with a toner glaze to dial in the exact shade of blonde, brunette, or copper you're after, and for anyone recovering from a box-dye mishap or a color gone wrong elsewhere, we run a full corrective color consultation before ever touching a formula to your hair. All-over color, root touch-ups, and pull-through color services are also available for guests who prefer a solid, consistent tone. We work exclusively with Kérastase and L'Oréal Professionnel color lines, chosen for their condition-first formulas that protect the hair's integrity through the lightening process. A single-process root touch-up typically takes about 90 minutes; a full balayage or foilyage session with toner and blowdry runs two-and-a-half to four hours depending on length and density. Most color clients return every six to eight weeks for a root refresh, while balayage clients can often stretch to three or four months between visits thanks to the grown-out placement. We finish every color service with a bond-building or deep conditioning treatment to keep hair strong and shiny between visits.

Frequently Asked Questions
What's the difference between balayage and traditional foil highlights?
Balayage is hand-painted directly onto the surface of the hair, which creates a soft, sun-kissed gradient that grows out without a harsh line. Traditional foil highlights are sectioned and saturated from root to tip, giving more uniform, consistent lightness throughout. Many guests combine both techniques in one appointment for dimension with brightness.
How long does a balayage appointment take?
Plan for two-and-a-half to four hours depending on your hair's length, density, and how much lift is needed from your natural level. That includes the painting process, processing time, toning, and a blowdry.
How often do I need to come in for color maintenance?
Root touch-ups are typically needed every six to eight weeks. Balayage and foilyage clients usually stretch three to four months between full services since the color is placed away from the root.
Can you fix color I had done somewhere else?
Yes. Corrective color is one of our specialties. Book a consultation first so your colorist can assess the hair's current condition and history before recommending a safe path back to your goal color.
Do all four Bianchi's locations offer balayage and color correction?
Yes, our colorists in Birmingham, Royal Oak, Troy, and Clinton Township all offer balayage, foilyage, all-over color, and corrective color. Pricing varies slightly by location, so check the pricing table above or call your preferred salon.
